The volume of email with "office" type attachments is increasing rapidly. In particular, Word Documents, Excel Spreadsheets and PowerPoint prentation files are being widely used For members without office type software these attachments are problematic. You can use the filters listed below to read the files but can not edit them. OpenOffice.org 1.1 is free office software that can both read and write most of the documents you will need. You can create dynamic documents, analyse data, design presentations, produce illustrations, and open databases. You can publish your work in Portable Document Format (.pdf), and release your graphics in Flash (.swf) format - without needing any additional software. The software can be downloaded from the OpenOffice site. The file is quite large (65 mb) and may take a while over a phone line.
